LINKEM SPA CHOOSES DRAGONWAVE FOR NATIONWIDE WIMAX BACKHAUL NETWORK IN ITALY
DragonWave’s partner SELEX Communications to provide 4G Backhaul using Horizon Compact Radios

DragonWave Inc. (TSX:DWI) a global supplier of high-capacity, wireless native Ethernet backhaul solutions for mobile and access networks, today announced that Linkem Spa, one of Italy’s largest wireless broadband service providers, will deploy DragonWave’s Horizon Compact radios for backhaul in their new WiMAX network.
Linkem provides both nationwide Wi-Fi Hotspot services and Wireless DSL services in Italy. At the beginning of 2008 the company consolidated this position by acquiring 13 regional WiMAX licenses to provide mobile broadband coverage to 80% of the Italian population. The mobile WiMAX network is scheduled for completion in 2013.

The Horizon Compact network will be deployed by SELEX Communications a leading system integrator offering turnkey planning, deployment and support services for all DragonWave products. DragonWave products operate in both licensed and unlicensed radio frequencies between 6 and 38 GHz. An uncompromised product design delivers pure “packet” microwave performance with software scalable, ultra-low latency transport of up to 1.6 Gbps per link. Extremely easy to deploy and manage, DragonWave products deliver carrier-grade (99.999%) interference-free performance in next-generation IP networks.
