    Gerry Spencer

    Gerry Spencer retired from BT in late 2000 where, as Senior Vice President he focused in his final year on the creation and launch of BT Ignite, following six years on the board of the International/Global Division.

    He has since carried out consulting and advisory roles in international wholesale strategy and profitability (both switched minutes and IP streams), local networking, network equipment supply and business customer equipment and applications, including an advisory role in Wesley Clover, a private holding company with a technology group of companies specialising in technologies in the telecommunications and networking markets.

    He is a graduate of Cambridge.

    Peter Allen

    Peter Allen brings 21 years of industry experience in Broadband Telecommunications. Prior to joining DragonWave as President and CEO, Peter was founder, President and CEO Innovance Networks. Prior to Innovance, Peter was the Vice-President of Business Development and General Manager of the Optoelectronics organization within Nortel Networks' Optical Networks division, where he had responsibilities for both the system and component businesses.

    Peter's experience in business leadership includes heading up a 5000-employee global operation spanning R&D, manufacturing, as well as Sales & Marketing. Peter has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and has been involved in numerous multi-billion dollar transactions, as well as establishing business partnerships in North America, Europe and Japan. Peter has also held managerial positions at Ford Motor Company and Rothmans International, and has lived and worked in North America, Europe and Africa.

    Sir Terence Matthews

    Sir Terence Matthews is Chairman of Wesley Clover and also serves as Chairman of Mitel and March Networks, two companies active in developing Internet Protocol (IP) systems for enterprise applications.

    Prior to joining March Networks, he served as CEO and Chairman of Newbridge Networks Corporation, a company he founded in 1986. Providing leadership and vision for 14 years, Terry helped Newbridge become a leader in the worldwide data networking industry. When France-based Alcatel acquired Newbridge in May 2000, the company employed more than 6,500 employees and recorded FY 1999 revenue of $1.8 billion. In 1972, before launching Newbridge, Terry co-founded Mitel Corporation. Under his leadership Mitel grew quickly to become a world leader in the design and manufacture of enterprise voice systems and products. In 1985, British Telecom bought controlling interest in Mitel.

    In 2001, Terry purchased the worldwide Communications Systems division of Mitel, and the Mitel name, and is now owner and non-executive Chairman of Mitel Corporation, a company focused on providing next generation IP telephony solutions for broadband networks. Terry also serves on the board of directors for a number of high technology companies and is Chairman or serves on the Board of Directors of Bridgewater Systems, Solace Systems and NewHeights Software.

    In addition Terry holds an honours degree in electronics from the University of Wales, Swansea and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He has been awarded honorary doctorates by several universities, including the University of Wales, Glamorgan and Swansea, and Carleton University in Ottawa. In 1994, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, and in the 2001 Queen's Birthday Honours, he was awarded a Knighthood.

    Carl Eibl

    Carl Eibl is a Managing Director with Enterprise Partners Venture Capital since 2003. Prior to joining Enterprise, Carl was the CEO of several high profile technology and life science companies in San Diego. As CEO of publicly-held Maxwell Technologies (MXWL), Carl led the recreation of Maxwell from an engineering and physics service organization for the U.S. military to a high-tech business that develops, manufactures and commercializes energy storage devices called ultracapacitors in the industrial, energy and transportation markets and single board computers and components in the satellite and space market.

    Before joining Maxwell, Carl served as President of Stratagene Corporation (STGN), now a public company but then a privately-held biotechnology company selling DNA, RNA, biologicals and laboratory instruments in the pharmaceutical and university biotech research markets. Carl also served as CEO for Mycogen Corporation a publicly held agricultural, biotechnology company, which was sold to The Dow Chemical Company at the end of 1998 for $1.1 billion. Carl holds a J.D. from the Boston University School of Law in Boston, MA, and a B.A. from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He currently serves on the Boards of BMS, Breach Security, Enviance, Identrus, Maxwell Technologies, NP Photonics, Preventsys and Stratagene Corporation. Carl also is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Burnham Institute, a life sciences research institution in La Jolla, CA.

    Ake Persson

    Ake Persson brings more than 34 years of telecommunications industry experience. Ake, who retired from Ericsson in 2004, was a member of the Group Executive Management Team. He has held a variety of executive positions in the Ericsson group, most recently as the head of business unit CDMA Systems and President of Ericsson Wireless Communications Inc. in San Diego, CA.

    Ake has established and successfully managed several business units of Ericsson’s. He was the first General Manager of Ericsson’s cellular business and the leader and driving force behind its early global success. He later, as General Manager of the Voice and Data Systems Division, developed wireless packet data technology that was deployed in more than 30 countries around the world.

    Prior to moving to San Diego in 1999, Ake was responsible for all Marketing, Sales and Communications activities, globally, for Ericsson’s fast growing and very successful wireless systems business.

    Ake has over the years served as board member and chairman of several Ericsson companies around the world and has been instrumental in the forming of strategic business alliances with other leading vendors and partners in the telecom and IT industries.

    Under Ake’s leadership, Ericsson Wireless Communications Inc. was twice voted the best company to work for in San Diego, and in 2002, UCSD Jacobs School Of Engineering awarded Mr. Persson its “Outstanding Executive Award 2002”.

    Ake is a graduate from the University of Uppsala, Sweden.

    Claude Haw

    Claude is Managing Partner of Venture Coaches, a venture capital firm which he founded in 2000. Venture Coaches has invested in eleven technology companies with two having been sold and one taken public on TSX and London AIM markets.

    He is a professional engineer and has more than 30 years history in a variety of technical, general management and venture investing roles in the high technology sector. He has a wealth of experience in building successful technology companies in Canada from start-up to acquisition and IPO.

    From 2003 to early 2007, Claude was a General Partner for Skypoint Fund II where he managed the investment in three companies. Prior to Skypoint and Venture Coaches, he held a number of executive positions at Newbridge, including Vice-President of Corporate Business Development. In this role he managed strategic investment programs, from start-up to exit, in more than 20 companies. As Vice-President and General Manager of the Newbridge ATMnet Business Unit, Claude grew the unit from inception to a $200-million-per-annum business. While at Newbridge, Claude managed a small investment fund, Severn Bridge Investments, which invested in 12 companies and returned more that three times invested capital. Before joining Newbridge, he held senior management positions at Mitel Corporation and Leigh Instruments.

    Claude is a charter member of TiE, a global network of entrepreneurs and professionals, as well as a past board member of the Canadian Venture Capital Association (CVCA). Claude is also a founder of Mindtrust, an exclusive networking forum for technology company CEOs, and The Ottawa Network, an entrepreneurial group focused on enabling the next generation of technology companies in the National Capital Region. He is a member of the organization committee for both the annual Ottawa Venture and Technology Summit and the CVCA Annual conference.

    Claude holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Lakehead University. He has completed the Canadian Securities Course and is a member of Professional Engineers of Ontario and IEEE. He has been a guest lecturer at several universities generally speaking about entrepreneurship, business planning and venture investing. He is on the Advisory Committee of ENGAGE!, an Ottawa-based philanthropic group, and the Ottawa Sustainability Fund, a community-based environmental fund. As Managing Partner of Venture Coaches, Claude uses his operating experience and vision to strategically guide entrepreneurs as they build successful companies.

    Russell Frederick

    Russell brings over 20 years of financial and operational experience to the DragonWave team including raising venture capital, mergers and acquisitions transactions, and the management of small, high opportunity organizations.

    Prior to joining DragonWave Russell was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Wavesat Wireless Inc. based in Montreal. Previous to Wavesat Russell was the CFO of PRIOR Data Sciences Ltd. where he played a key role in the management buy out of the company and subsequent sale. Russell was also with Digital Equipment of Canada in various financial roles.

    Russell holds a Masters of Business Administration degree in Finance as well as a Bachelor of Science degree.
